Yoel Kenan, Founder & CEO

Yoel has over 25 years experience in the international music industry at senior executive level in the fields of A&R (Artist & Repertoire), marketing and business development at Universal, Sony-BMG and Mp3.com. Since 2005, Yoel has focused his attention on the burgeoning African music business, managing leading African artists, launching labels in South Africa and Nigeria, and developing music strategy for international brands and ad agencies. In 2009, Yoel founded Africori.

Neil Naidoo, Business Development (South Africa)

Neil oversees content acquisition and business development in South Africa, liaising with artists, labels, partners and brands to create new digital revenue streams and maximise opportunities for the Africori catalogue. Prior to joining Africori, Neil ran his own company managing South African songwriters and producers, placing music on various high-profile albums and commercials in South Africa and Europe.

Adam Tiran, Operations & Licensing (UK)

Adam oversees the distribution supply chain, artist and label liaison and digital marketing from our London office. He also handles licensing for the Africori catalogue. With a background in PR and journalism, Adam’s input extends to presiding over communications and creative opportunities. By night, Adam flies the flag for African dance music as a DJ and promoter around London.

Goodwill Nkuna, Sales (South Africa)

Goodwill Nkuna, a sales veteran in the South African music industry, has extensive experience both in retail and the recording business, having worked for Musica, BMG (Sony Music) and Warner Music (Gallo). Goodwill has built a substantial network, ranging from record company executives, artists and producers, to music buyers and leading independent stores.

Aika Marealle, Content (Tanzania)

Aika brings unique experience to the team. As one half of afropop duo Navy Kenzo, much of her time has been spent on stage rather than behind the curtains. As such, she understands well the needs of artists and the challenges they face today, and is keenly aware of the opportunities that digital distribution provides. With additional experience in the media industry (East Africa TV, TV1) and artist management (Nahreel), she is well-equipped to assist artists in getting their music on digital platforms.

Nicolas Winicki, Finance (UK)

Nicolas coordinates with our business partners and various offices across the continent. With a background in Finance and M&A experience, Nicolas provides Analytics and Finance for the group. Nicolas has been involved with Africori since its inception as an external advisor and is now fully part of the team.

Nthabiseng Mashita, Sales & Production (South Africa)

Nthabiseng is in charge of production, stock control and sales support, coordinating our physical release schedule, product manufacturing and project management. Nthabiseng joined Cool Spot Music in 2006 and has since held various positions within the company, bringing a wide range of skills to the Africori team.

Joseph Samuel, Content (Nigeria)

Joe has been involved in music promotion in Nigeria for the past 17 years, having worked with many of the country’s leading artists, including Yinka Davies, Daddy Fresh, Yellow Banton and Emete, and record labels Nation Africa and Orangootan. He has also worked on some of Nigeria’s top live events in stage management roles, most notably Star Mega Jam.

Ravi Jessani, Marketing & Promotion (UK)

A Business Management and Marketing graduate, Ravi has editorial and programming experience from his work with MTV, Channel AKA and Channel 4’s Box TV, including Box Africa. Ravi assists in promoting the Africori catalogue, liaising with digital stores and music services to secure editorial coverage, publicising new and newly relevant releases via communications and developing social media strategy.

Selase Attoh, Content (Ghana)

Selase is a pioneer in online journalism in Ghana and has over the past 12 years contributed immensely in promoting showbiz in the country. With a solid background too in marketing and events, Selase has worked with some of Ghana’s finest musicians including Tic Tac as a publicist and female gospel group, Daughters of Glorious Jesus as manager.

Nandi Mthimkhulu, Administration (South Africa)

Nandi brings a vast and varied experience of the local music business in South Africa, having joined Cool Spot Music, one of the country’s leading independent labels, in 2005. She provides support to the South African operation, administering the extensive catalogue, dealing with local radio stations and collecting societies.

Malcolm Watson, Royalties (South Africa)

Mally founded local South African music label Cool Spot Productions with Ken Haycock in 1988. He is one of the most revered producers in South Africa, having worked with local legends such as Brenda (Fassie) & The Big Dudes, Steve Kekana, Cheek to Cheek, Blondie & Pappa and many others over an illustrious career spanning more than 25 years. Following the acquisition of Cool Spot in 2013, Mally joined Africori as Royalty Manager.

Joshua Pontin, YouTube & Publishing (UK)

Joshua oversees video monetisation and channel management on YouTube and other digital video platforms. He is also responsible for the administration of Africori’s publishing catalogue. With experience at the BBC and in artist management and marketing, Josh has a broad understanding of the digital industry. A graduate in Creative Music Sound Technology, keen guitarist and producer, he caters well to the creative elements in the business.
