19 Jun Nathi’s ‘Buyelekhaya’ reaches the number 1 spot
Nathi is the latest musical gem to be unearthed by legendary South African record label Muthaland Entertainment. In his short career so far, he’s already developed a mature sound that is fast becoming widely adored. His debut album Buyelekhaya is a stunning melange of R&B, gospel and soul – and it’s a real testimony of how far he has come and certainly how far he will go, judging by the response from his fans who see him as a “breath of fresh air” with a sound that’s ”raw and unique”.
His sound creates a familiar, nostalgic ambience as he croons over afro-pop melodies. It’s no wonder that his latest single ”Nomvula” is currently Number 1 in the iTunes South Africa World Music Charts and recently entered the Top 50. The single’s been making serious headway on the airwaves too and made it’s debut at Number 31 on the Metro FM Chart.
