02 sept The Africa Nouveau Festival makes it’s debut on Kenyan soil
The organizers of the annual Blankets and Wine have announced the creation of a brand new festival that will celebrate all aspects of African music, food, art and fashion. The first Africa Nouveau Festival will be held in Nairobi from the 5th-6th of September and is an awesome way to bring in the new spring season. Showcasing some of the latest trends in fashion and what the organizers refer to as ‘culinary art’, an experimental combination of food and art, as well as performances by some of Africa’s hottest artists.
To get you into the spirit of spring festivals a la Africa Nouveau, we have complied a list of some of the amazing artists who will be preforming at what promises to be one of the biggest festivals in Africa.

A South African band led by the prince of township tech, Spoek Mathambo. The 5 man band transcends several genres, creating of fusion that includes dubstep, punk and electro music with traditional Maskandi and Shangaan music. Their debut album Free Love was released in March.
2. Just A Band
A Kenyan band that has been active on the music scene since 2003. Not only do they have a pretty quirky name but they also have a quirky sound. A delightful collaboration of various genres including jazz, house and funk, the band is not afraid to explore various musical journeys to establish a unique sound.
3. Red Acapella
Red Acapella is a Kenyan male trio that has been active since 201. The male trio specializes in acapella and afro-soul, they have a slightly mature sound that draws from various musical influences.
4. Yellow Light Machine
YLM is a band made up of 9 music loves who have come together with the aim of creating awesome music. The band pride themselves in creating music that is a combination of afro-soul, reggae, blues and funk. A unique combination that makes for amazing music.
5. Jojo Abot
Ghanaian singer and songwriter, Jojo Abot’s first EP Fyfya Woto has a mixture of jazz, afrobeat, house, reggae and neo-soul music. She draws inspiration from various influences such as ideas of freedom, slavery, family, love and tradition and has listed Thandiswa Mazwai, Lucky Dube and Seeed as her musical influences.
