Africori CEO Elected To Join the Merlin Board

We are proud to announce that Africori founder and CEO, Yoel Kenan has been elected to join the Merlin Board, as the only African representative. Elections were held on the 9th of October 2015, where 42% of the board members voted which is the highest voter turn out to date. The 15 member board act as supervisors to Merlin which is run by a non-profit foundation that has offices in London, New York and a head office in Amsterdam.

Merlin is the global digital rights agency for the world’s independent label sector, representing over 20 000 labels across 40 countries. Merlin aims to ensure that independents have a vehicle to protect and enhance their ability to compete in the ever changing world of digital music.

Commenting on his recent appointment, Yoel stated “I look forward to raising the concerns and opportunities of independent African artists and labels. Nowhere else in the world do independent local artists and labels have such a strong market share, we need to capitalise on it and help grow the business into a fair ecosystem where local artists can fully benefit from the new digital revenue systems”
