AFROPUNK kicks off the Battle of the Bands JOBURG 2019 which will be hosted in partnership with AFRICORI for the 2nd year running.

Entries for the competition are now open and will see qualifying new artists/bands give their best performances in a bid to play on the AFROPUNK main festival stages, alongside Solange, Miguel, Masego, Goldlink, Nao, Busiswa, Sho Madojzi and more. The winning band for 2019 will also be awarded a distribution deal with Africa’s foremost digital music company, AFRICORI.

This year’s program will be featuring a two-day seminar for finalists; packed with insights to the music business and tools for artist development.

Entries that have been accepted will progress to the voting round where the top bands will then play live for a chance to play at AFROPUNK Joburg 2019.

Now in its third instalment in South Africa, the competition has unearthed incredible musicians such as 2018 winners Red Robyn and Ikati Esengxoweni along with Automatic Live and Stiff Pap who won the competition in 2017.
