Zito Mowa – “Text Me When You Get Home”
Following the release of his critically acclaimed debut album, Zito Mowa returns with Text Me When You Get Home. The 12-track sophomore effort is a display of the producer’s slinky production. The project draws influences from 70s sonics.
Following a string of singles, Pson presents his debut project Anaconda. The 9-track sums up the DRC star’s life battles and how these have shaped his ambitions.
Nue_Sam takes the steps to the centre stage with her first EP Sipho. The poet has worked alongside industry giants as a featured artist. Sipho is a deeply personal mini-album via which she challenged herself through various expressions of her art.
Soul vocalist Kaylow pens a tribute to his late father on Ngena. Through the in-memoriam, Kaylow masterfully recounts the passing of a loved one and reassures himself that his dad is in a better place.
K-Zaka – “Qhubeka” (ft. LuE and Nkosi K)
K-Zaka takes the sourest of lemons and turns them into lemonade via his motivational anthem Qhubeka. The song is rooted in some of the turmoil he experienced in 2021. The record features fresh talents LuE and Nkosi K.
Pappy Kojo – “Koobi” (ft. O’Kenneth and Reggie)
Last Friday, Pappy Kojo began the rollout for his forthcoming EP, Logos Hope. Along with the announcement of the mini-album, the Takoradi-native unveiled the official music video for the lead single Koobi.
Lowsheen – “Ungowami” (ft. Makhadzi & Basetsana)
Wanitwa Mos Entertainment signee, Lowsheen, drops his debut single Ungowami. The track features Makhadzi and Idols SA 13 finalist – Basetsana.
Ungowami is themed around the month of love, and Lowsheen noted that “[the] single is a good way to connect emotionally via collective experiences”.
Senegalese rapper Shampagne Baby spits some deadly rhymes on her latest offering Lethal. The single embodies her bravado and is a metaphor for what she is about.
Tumi Tladi – “Presidential” (ft. Nadia Nakia & Mustbedubz)
Tumi Tladi keeps bringing on the heat, and his new banger, Presidential, is no different. The song features Nadia Nakai and Mustbedubz on production. Presidential makes a nod to the incumbent head of the South African republic – Cyril Ramaphosa.
Oscar Mbo – “My Story”
For his latest EP, Oscar Mbo crafted together a three-piece mini-album titled My Story. In it, Mbo taps into the sonic world of deep tech. My Story features contributions from Simmy, Dj LeSoul, Kaylow, MaWhooand more.
Tendaness – “Too Late” (ft. Sarnilo)
Eswatini-based producer and DJ Tendaness used the time provided in isolation to experiment with his sound. One of the outcomes of this is Too Late. The dance record features a new R&B vocalist – Sarnilo. Too Late is the first single from Tendaness’ upcoming sophomore album.
J Molley chronicles his struggles with addiction and mental health on Almost Dead. The rapper went on hiatus last year to focus on his rehabilitation process. On the album, J Molley speaks openly of this dark period.
