31 Mar Video Round Up: Vanessa Mdee, Michael Kiwanuka, Burnaboy, Moelogo.
Vanessa Mdee – Niroge
The Swahili term “Niroge” means ‘compel me’. The song also heavily depicts an uncontrollable love. The bright and playful video was directed by Justin Campos in Johannesburg, South Africa. Again, top boy of Industry Studios “Nahreel” is behind the controls of this one and compliments to the talented producer for blending traditional and contemporary sounds together in a seamless fashion.
Michael Kiwanuka – Black Man In A White World
Michael Kiwanuka‘s newest video is incredible. Hands down. The shots used of the actor levitating up towards the sky and slowly falling back down to earth are not only pleasing to the eye, but enforce and support the whole message of the song. “Black Man In A White World” is oozing with true soul, the instrumentation is on point too with a lovely funk guitar cutting through the mix.
Burnaboy – Rizzla
Burnaboy shares his latest music video “Rizzla”, taken from his debut album “On A Spaceship“. The song was produced by “JFem Beatz” and the cleverly shot music video was directed by Matt Max, which sees Burnaboy get loose and party with friends.
Moelogo – Penkele
The Lagos born “Moelogo” drops his brand new video “Penkele“. The track title pays tribute to “King Sunny Ade” by sharing the same name of his song. The track channels an important message of ‘no stress and no worries‘ by encouraging the listeners to not get worked up by any petty issues and to remember what’s important in life. Kevin Hudson shot the video in the streets of South East London.
